BEFORE BEGINNING

Hello an welcome!!
If you got here, maybe you want to know what it is important to take into acount for getting into this fantastic world... so, let's take a look...

Give yourself a minute to think: no matter what you study, or what do you do in your life, put your soul on this; I mean, always give from you the 200% and more. Go after what you really love and you will see how great it will be, even if you have to work hard.

1. The first thing you have to know is that it is such a marvellous and beautiful thing!!. Working with the aeronautic industry, with houndreds of aircrafts and airlines, with tons of metal, plastic and fabric; serving thousands of passengers every day... it is quite a challenge!. Is there anything more exciting than a very heavy aircraft raising from the ground? I think not...

2. Because of the size of this industry, working on the aviation is hard, meaning that this industry is full of reglamentations an rules that you you have to follow if you want to "keep yourself alive". And it is easy to understand the reason: there are thousands of passengers from different cultures and ages, thousands of aircrafts from lots of countries, houndreds of routes crossing all our atmosphere, specific information to take into account (wheather, for instance)... in short... it is not easy to make everything work perfect, is it?

3. Also, it is important to know that it is a millionaire industry: Different from the cars, airplanes are not limited to one single road; in other words, the aeronautic industry is getting bigger every year more more with no apparent limits (of course the fuels limit, but remember that new technologies are being applied for our independe from the petroleum). So, despite the huge competence, there are lots of new business opportunities waiting to be developed (even in the countries wich do not have an air industry)

4. Finally something important as well: working on aviation implies team work... what does it mean? It means that you will depend on somebody else's work, and this is the best part: you will learn from somebody else's knowledge, and someone is going to learn from you in return!! Engineers, Industrial Designers, Fashion Designers, Arquitects, Medics, Pychologists and many more!! The aeronautic business needs the contribution from lots of persons.

5. And for the end: dear partner, remember that you belong to this blog, and this space is created for your benefit. Anything you want to add and/or correct is welcome!!

SOME ADVICES AND SUGGESTIONS

Do not forget!!
Besides what you read above, you should consider the next information...

Remember: be compromised, respecful and pro-active (meaning that it is always good to go a step ahead, go beyond, improve constantly; basically, you do not need anything else for reaching success!!

1. Keep your passion alive... always! Maybe this first advice is not what you expected, but the passion gives you the energy to confront the challenges. Since the very beginning of my carreer I had to surpass some obstacles (for example, people who did not believed that working on the air industry could be possible here in Colombia) Well, it was my passion for the aviation that kept me alive!

2. Read constantly. It is important to be acquainted of the latest news since this industry changes every day. Though books are a very reliable source of information, it is also good to visit specialized websites, read magazines and assist to any special event related to aviation.

3. Never stop thinking! As we are designers, our mind must be constantly at work. Though travelling by airplane is not a daily activity (currently, flying is still expensive), you can keep your mind trained every day, observing your environment, relating aircrafts with other transportation systems (looking for similarities and differences) and so on.

4. Be disciplined with what you do. Remember that working on this industry implies commitment.

5. Build an extensive contact network. Since this industry is huge, you will need to know who's where. When I started on this, I remember I sent emails to lots of companies related to aviation, telling them that I was at the university, studying Industrial Design and that I was passionate for aviation... maybe you could think "Hey! Why did he do that?", "How funny!"... but, do not be afraid of showing yor feelings. Show yourself enthusiastic and you will see the results sooner or later.

6. Once again, remember that anything you want to add and/or correct is welcome!!
